On November 14, DACCOs CEO, Mary Lynn Ulrey, was pleased to accept a $10,000 grant award from Wells Fargo to support the self-sufficiency efforts of men and women in residential treatment.
Finding employment in this economy is no easy task. For those in early recovery from substance abuse (who may also have a felony drug offense on their record), it is especially tough. Add a lack of marketable employment skills, proper identification, transportation, and/or clothing to that combination, and the prospect of finding work can be overwhelming. To address such needs, DACCO will use the Wells Fargo grant to:
- Purchase computers and computer desks for clients use in job searches, and cover letter writing, and employment applications
- Address various job-readiness needs, like obtaining proper identification needed to obtain employment, bus passes, work appropriate clothing and shoes, haircuts, and other unfunded client-specific needs.
By preparing clients to join the workforce, we will increase employment and encourage stability and long-term success for them, their families, and the entire community “ aligning with the Wells Fargo priority of supporting programs that benefit low-income families and keeping communities vibrant and strong. Thank you, Wells Fargo!
