Donations

We want to express our continued gratitude to the generosity of donors who help DACCO sustain its mission of providing prevention and treatment for a drug-free community. While public funding helps support our on-going programs, it does not cover all the costs of providing this community with the unique services we have offered the residents of Hillsborough County or the past 31 years. We rely on private contributions to supplement our public funds. We hope, you too, will help a child get their parent back from this destructive disease. Your donation will make a difference for one family at a time.Thank you for your interest in helping DACCO win the battle against substance abuse.Gifts to DACCO are tax deductible and benefit people in the community.

Donations can be made online through the paypal system or by check or credit card to the administrative office.

Artist who Overcame Addiction to Visit DACCO

TAMPA, FloridaBringing his story of inspiration and hope, Ben Brummerhop, will spend time on March 8th and 9th at DACCO- the Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office with clients sharing his talents and artistry.  Arriving on the afternoon of the 8th , he will spend time with clients and staff over lunch telling his story and sharing his insights regarding his five year recovery and then spend the afternoon painting backgrounds with the clients.   He will return on the 9th to help the clients finish their masterpieces.

Mr. Brummerhop is in Tampa to showcase his original paintings at the prestigious Michael Murphy Gallery.  The exhibit highlights how he uses syringes as a tool to apply layers of latex paint on canvas with acrylic backgrounds.    His inspiration for this new art form is, in Mr. Brummerhop’s own words, because   “I missed my drug scale and the feel of those plastic bags as I snapped them open with one hand and finally, I missed the feel of the syringe. Oh the syringe, in most cases my best friend, the vehicle to my equivalent of a relaxing stroll on a beach and then it hit me…how do I rekindle this old flame…plain and simple I wanted my syringes back.”

Spending time with DACCO clients and giving back in this small way to others going through the same battles and struggles associated with recovery is one way to let his fellow addicts know that they are not alone and to find hope.   “It has been five years since I did my last injection of Methamphetamines and it has taken five years to rediscover my true creativity. The challenges have been many and so far, the rewards have been amazing – being able to share these with others, in this small way, will be truly inspiring and yet another way for us to share our journey”

For more information about this event or the other substance use disorder programming available please call DACCO at 813-984-8818 or visit our website at www.dacco.org.
