Donations

We want to express our continued gratitude to the generosity of donors who help DACCO sustain its mission of providing prevention and treatment for a drug-free community. While public funding helps support our on-going programs, it does not cover all the costs of providing this community with the unique services we have offered the residents of Hillsborough County or the past 31 years. We rely on private contributions to supplement our public funds. We hope, you too, will help a child get their parent back from this destructive disease. Your donation will make a difference for one family at a time.Thank you for your interest in helping DACCO win the battle against substance abuse.Gifts to DACCO are tax deductible and benefit people in the community.

Donations can be made online through the paypal system or by check or credit card to the administrative office.

Facing Prison?  A New Program is Now Available at DACCO to Help

TAMPA, FloridaThe DACCO Prison Diversion Program is a pilot program funded through the Department of Corrections that is helping many get their lives back on track.

The goal of this program is to allow offenders, who in the past would have been incarcerated, the opportunity to stay supported in the community, access the services they need to stay out of prison, receive life skills education and employment assistance, and be part of a structured environment – all at cost less than incarceration.  Just a few of the following services and recreational activities offered through this program include:

  • Access to computer for job searching and e-mail access; assistance with signing up for an e-mail address
  • Information on how to get rights restored and assistance and education on how to budget and managed finances.
  • Recreational Activities including basketball, monthly dinners, and other drug-free, non-criminal activities with positive peers.
  • Availability and tracking of community service hours required by the court.
  • Assistance with completion of healthcare application(s) so that clients can access on site health care services through Tampa Family Health Centers.

Because education alone does not always change behaviors that are deeply rooted and supported in one’s environment, the program also provides assistance in supporting clients in making positive prosocial changes by providing the supportive environment where clients can call if they are in crisis.  Clients are also provided referrals to resources and provided help to facilitate the successful completion of court requirements.   Prevention counseling is also offered which provides proven and effective ways to help offenders avert relapse.

In summary, not only will does the program provide a cost effective option in reducing the prison population but it also achieves the following benefits for the community as a whole.

•           Provides services such as life skill training, employment linkages, substance abuse education, and access to community resources while achieving successful re-entry of offenders back into the community.
•           Meet client’s needs by connecting/case managing the availability of services.
•           Provides safe, stable housing in a group setting or the option of living with their family or on their own as they complete the program.
•           Provides economic self-sufficiency.
•           Provides pro-social, positive activities.
•           Promotes healthy relationships.

At this time this program is available to male clients, age 18 years and older, who are Hillsborough County residents with referral through either the Department of Corrections or a court order.  In addition, prior to being
