Prevention Programs for Youth & Adults:
Children (Ages 5-12)
Studies show that children who live in a structured environment, can read, follow rules, communicate, and think independently achieve more and report higher feelings of contentment than others. Program counselors help families set rules and goals that are achievable by providing case management and counseling in the home at school, and in the community.
Youth (Ages 12-17)
Programming which provides youths with skills to resist peer pressure, develop a positive self-image, make decisions and solve problems, manage anxiety, communicate effectively, build healthy relationships, and handle social situations with confidence is the focus of the prevention programming used for this age group. Counselors use various case management and program curriculum providing services throughout the County in locations including the public and Alternative Schools as well as in the home and community centers.
Young Adult (Ages 18-22)
Programming that provides area high school college-bound seniors and college freshmen information regarding making safer choices regarding alcohol abuse prevention is the focus of this programming.
Adults (Ages 22-54)
Programming that provides education to adults and parents regarding the risks of alcohol and other drug use and how/where to access services for substance abuse in the home, community, and community with the intent to increase public awareness of the negative consequences of substance use disorders is the primary focus of this programming
Prevention Program for Seniors
Senior Adult(Ages 55 and older):
Programming which is coordinated through local agencies providing services to Senior Adults this prevention program provides topics specific to this population including: Coping with Life’s Transitions, Using Medications Wisely and Keeping a Healthy Outlook on Life.
Brief Intervention and Treatment for Elderly – BRITE:
Programming which is coordinated through local healthcare providers which provides outreach, assessment and linkage to treatment services to persons age 55 and older.
